Eagle Mount Great Falls is a non-profit providing recreational activities for individuals of all ages with disabilities in Great Falls, MT. One of the activities offered by Eagle Mount Great Falls is karate. Classes are held at the Fitness Plus Martial Arts Academy located at 811 1st Ave No. The instructors are Don Johnson and Micheale Wigen who are co-owners and operators of the Academy. The Academy has about 140 students plus the 15 to 20 Eagle Mount participants. Some 16 of the Academy’s students assist Don and Micheale, without pay, as part of their training. The people and the atmosphere are ideal for our participants. Don and Micheale are true professionals and have a passion for helping their students to be the very best each one can be. They awaken strengths in their students that result in genuine self-esteem. One might question martial arts as an appropriate activity for Eagle Mount. When we realize that martial arts teaches knowledge of mind, honesty of heart and strength of body, a light goes on as far as suitability is concerned. Our participants are learning discipline, respect and humility as they pursue the progressive “Belts” that represent the awards of the karate training system. Their bodies become stronger and their hand-eye coordination is greatly improved. The creed of the Eagle Mount class is “we are one and only one. We don’t fight but we have fun.”
